Offices were open today. Most Banks could not function in CBD area because of power cuts.
In our office most Omani staff were absent as their family and friends were in distress. Roads were still breached and trafic blocks were unavoidable. My friend's relative was washed out into the sea when he was trying to park his car safely. A lady staff in the flooded outskirts of muscat city could not be contacted as phones were not working and all roads to the town were washed away. I called another lady staff and heard her son crying in the neibouring flat above and she said her ground floor flat was still in water. She had saved only the clothes she wore.

49 people have been reported killed by Cyclone Gonu and 27 people are still missing as on 9.6.07
What has happened in Sur town nobody knows even on 10 june, sunday?

Qurum, Wazarat (ministry area), Al Ghubrah, Azaiba and Seeb have been hit worst with terrible flooding and heavy damage.
The fishing hamlet of Yiti is reported destroyed. It was a beat8iful tourist spot at sea level.

The McDonalds at Qurum completely submerged.
Capital Commercial Centre (CCC) was fully flooded and flushed out .
Shopping malls in Sabco Centre suffered heavily and objects were flooded out .
There have been reports of looting.
Madinat Al Sultan Qaboos is on higher ground a kilometre or more behind the coast and have largely escaped.
Lansab Dam was breached deliberately releasing water. A third of the dam was breached deliberately rather than having the whole dam destroyed and discharging even more flood water.
The big problem today is water. All pipes are dry. No bottled water in shops. No milk, no coco cola too!!
Water supply is to resume as pipes have been disrupted. Pipe that supplies gas to the Ghubrah power and desalination plant which produces 42 million gallons of water a day was washed away. The plant is the main source of potable water for Muscat.Water distribution centres have been set up by the ROP and the armed forces.

The road to Al Amerat through Wadi Aday was cut. A track is being graded adjacent to the road to try and reach communities at Al Amerat and beyond to Quriyat, which are said to have suffered very badly. The coast road that was being built between Quriyat and Sur is washed away.
Ghubrah was very badly hit with houses flooded, flying debris, cars upturned and smashed to
The Chedi hotel near sea is a disaster area.

We are still in the crisis stage. The priority at the moment is to ensure that people don't die of thirst, lack of food or medical care, and all paramilitary forces are in action. Oman has stocks for the entire nation for six months, There will be no crisis of food.
